This Privacy Policy explains what information SoftStations (softstations.com) collects when you visit the site, how we use it and the choices you have. We collect as little personal information as we can.
Information we collect
Information you give us. If you comment on an article, we store the name, email address and website you enter, your comment, and your IP address and browser details to help detect spam. If you email us, for example to subscribe to updates or send a tip, we receive your email address and message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our server records basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of your visit. This helps us keep the site secure and working properly.
How we use it
We use this information to publish and moderate comments, reply to your messages, send updates you asked for, protect the site from spam and abuse, and understand which content is useful so we can improve it. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies
The site uses a small number of cookies. If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email and website in a cookie so you don't have to type them again; these cookies last one year. Logged-in editors also receive login cookies. Affiliate partners may set cookies when you click through to their store so they can credit a purchase to us. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Third-party services and links
To run the site we rely on a few outside services, each with its own privacy policy: our web host; Google Fonts, which loads the site's typefaces from Google's servers; Gravatar, which may show a profile picture next to comments; and the retailers and affiliate networks behind our deal links. Your choices and rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@softstations.com. You can also ask us to stop sending you emails at any time. We keep comments and their metadata for as long as the comment is published, and we keep emails only as long as needed to respond or to send updates you asked for.
Children
SoftStations is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
